Bernie Behrend
Behrend Mediation Services

With 26 years of mediation experience, Bernhard Behrend is one of the most experienced mediators in the Pittsburgh area. In addition to his private mediation practice, Mr. Behrend mediates for the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the US Postal Service, the US District Court, Western District of PA, and FINRA.

Mr. Behrend is President of the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania and a founding member of Mediators Beyond Borders. Bernie is also a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, The Pennsylvania Council of Mediators, and the ADR Committees of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the PA Bar Association.

Mr. Behrend earned the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) while working as a workplace relations specialist with the Mercy Health System. Prior to that position, he worked as an investigator with the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations.

A popular lecturer & trainer on mediation & conflict resolution for various state and local bar associations, Bernie is an adjunct faculty member at Duquesne University’s School of Leadership & Professional Advancement where he teaches: “Conflict Resolution”; “Mediating Organizational Disputes”; & a variety of courses for Duquesne’s Paralegal Institute including, “Alternative Dispute Resolution.”

In addition to a number of certifications, Mr. Behrend holds a BA in philosophy from Vassar College and earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Richard D. Rogow , JD

The Pittsburgh Mediation Group

Principal

Mr. Rogow is an attorney and specialist practicing mediation and conflict resolution since 1977. He is a principal of the Pittsburgh Mediation Group and Pittsburgh Mediation Training Alliance.

He was first trained as a mediator by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in 1977. His mediation experience includes: employment and workplace law; real estate and construction law; domestic relations and divorce; elder and estate law. He is a mediator for several federal agencies, as well as a panel member for the US Postal Service, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.; and sits as an approved mediator for the US Federal Court, Western District of Pennsylvania. He was a founding partner at CDR Associates, in Boulder, CO in 1977.

Currently Mr. Rogow is Program Director and a trainer for the Pittsburgh Mediation Group. He has been a lecturer for various bar associations and professional groups including the PA Bar Institute  and the Allegheny County Bar Association. Mr. Rogow has Advanced Training Certification from The Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation; and is a Certified Elder Law Mediator. He is a member of the ADR and Elder Law Committees of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the PA Bar Association and the Association for Conflict Resolution. He is a Board member of the Western Pennsylvania Council of Mediators; and is a founding member of Mediators Beyond Borders.

Mr. Rogow received his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and his JD from Duquesne University School of Law.
